Beth Macaulay Couture Refunds and Returns Policy
This Refunds & Returns Policy governs the circumstances under which clients of Beth Macaulay Couture (“BMC”) may seek alterations, returns, or refunds. It reflects the requirements of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, while also outlining exclusions and additional service options, such as resale and rental.
By placing an order, booking a consultation, or otherwise engaging with BMC’s services (online or in-person), clients acknowledge and agree to be bound by this Policy, alongside BMC’s General Terms & Disclaimers and other applicable policies.
BMC reserves the right to update this Policy to reflect changes in law, industry practice, or operational requirements.
1.1 Eligibility for Returns and Alterations
Subject to your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, you may request to return or alter a garment purchased from BethMacaulay Couture within twenty-eight (28) days of receipt or collection. All returned garments must be in their original condition, unworn, unwashed, undamaged, and with all original tags and packaging intact. Proof of purchase shall also be required.
1.2 Alterations and Fittings
Alterations requested within the twenty-eight (28) day window will be undertaken at the agreed service charge. Any request for alteration made after this period shall be deemed a new order and shall incur new charges, including materials and labour costs as applicable.
1.3 Excluded Items
Items purchased at sale or promotional prices. Similarly, intimate apparel, including lingerie and undergarments, or items excluded by applicable hygiene regulations, is strictly non-returnable.
1.4 Refund Method
Refunds, where approved, shall be processed using the original method of payment. Where this is not practicable, BethMacaulay Couture may, at its discretion, issue store credit or offer an exchange of equal value. Refunds do not include shipping fees, unless the item is found to be defective or supplied incorrectly.
1.5 Return Shipping and Liability
Customers are responsible for the return shipping costs, unless otherwise agreed upon in writing. Beth Macaulay Couture accepts no liability for parcels lost, delayed, or damaged in return transit, and clients are advised to use a tracked and insured courier service.
1.6 Resale and Rental Options
1.6.1 Customers who no longer wish to retain a garment may request that Beth Macaulay Couture consider the item for resale (thrift) or rental.
1.6.2 All garments submitted for resale or rental shall undergo inspection and quality verification by Beth Macaulay Couture. Acceptance is not automatic and shall remain at the sole discretion of the company.
1.6.3 If approved, the garment will be listed for resale or rental under Beth Macaulay Couture’s terms. The client acknowledges that payouts will only be made after the garment has been successfully sold or rented.
1.6.4 Beth Macaulay Couture shall deduct 10% from the resale or rental proceeds as administration fee and applicable service charges before releasing the balance to the client.
1.6.5 Items failing inspection or unsuitable for resale/rental will be returned to the client at their expense.
1.7 Additional Fees
Additional charges may apply in the following circumstances:
(a) Alterations – where the scope of alterations exceeds the original order specifications, or where alterations are requested after the twenty-eight (28) day window and must be treated as a new order.
(b) Late Returns – where garments are returned or alteration requests are made outside the stipulated twenty-eight (28) day period.
(c) Resale and Rental Services – where garments are submitted for resale or rental, Beth Macaulay Couture reserves the right to deduct administrative charges, inspection and handling fees, and commission from the proceeds before payment to the client.
(d) Special Handling – where garments require exceptional treatment (such as fabric restoration, repair, or additional preparation) before resale, rental, or alteration.
